“I’ve completed a Master's of Clinical Science, and I'm currently doing a PhD on a burns- related topic. Beck and Nicole, being OTs themselves, really understand the work and also having family themselves, understand the need for flexibility,” she explains.

As a mum to a 13-year-old, Tanja loves that she has the flexibility to work from home when needed. “Plus, I find writing reports and completing other tasks can be done really quite effectively from home. There's not that micromanaging that you can get in some places because I'm respected and trusted for what I do, and they know my work from what I've done previously.”

At Praktis we believe being Occupational Therapist-owned is important and our team agrees.

In our organisation we find ways to empower our team, so that they can grow their skills with confidence.

Our team is free to balance their office and therapy hours to ensure the best experience for themselves and their clients. The team at Praktis pride itself on the standard of care and support they provide and often receive this as direct feedback. Tanja shares:

“The feedback I've got from support coordinators is, they've said, "Oh you're doing great." I think that's because the knowledge across OTs is excellent, and we are given the capacity to do that. We see clients through, you do what you have to do and what's needed instead of having a massive caseload and doing the bare minimum.” “I’ve received fantastic feedback from support coordinators, which I really value. They recognise that the knowledge across our team of OTs is excellent, and we are given the capacity to perform at our best. We see clients right through, you do what you have to do and what's needed instead of having a massive caseload and doing the bare minimum.” It is important to us that our team feel supported and connected whilst working autonomously. Tanja discusses some of the processes that we have in place to ensure this.

“We have good communication processes across the team, we can do little chats online, and there's the in-services that we do once a month and we have our lunchtime team meetings.

“Although I've got the flexibility and autonomy to work from home, we are really connected at Praktis and I can reach out to the team and be part of the team and feel supported. The flexibility to work from home and nail down and do your own thing is nice. But there's also that option to go broader and incorporate your team members as well.”

Join Tanja and the rest of our team of educators, learners and incredible individuals at Praktis Allied Health. We are committed to providing a work environment that is flexible, respectful and supportive. Together, we make a positive impact on the lives of our clients and their families.
